spasticdonkey,
Thanks for the post. I'll definitely have to come take a look. But, I still personally see news and blog as more tightly linked together in terms of functionality... not Content. But, that is just one person's opinion and Its not an educated one as I have yet to look at what you are working on... hope to look at that tomorrow.

I suppose it all depends on how you setup your site.. If you need to use the content module for some type of structured content, and also maintain news and a blog; then it probably wouldn't work for you. It was basically designed as a companion module to Content Plus, just as topics is to news, ctopics is to content plus... with a few added features that extend the flexibility of how content plus could be used.

In the past when I have created a Content page I found myself creating a news story so people knew it was there. So this module does a "new style" preview for you (if desired).

In theory you could adjust the truncation settings of the "news style" preview to display as more of a "blog style"

I think the best could be Bobby if he has the time Montego but I hope everything goes well with your plans. I am also very busy at work and not so much time now.

One thing that I would like to have is the option to have subcat in categories,if you have a realy big site with alot of categories it can get rather messy without subcat

I would like to use TON with the comments using Disgus BUT I also need to be able to store the comments locally in the DB because on a couple of occassions recently, Disqus has been down and prevented the homepage from displaying correctly.

I've found the disqus system to be pretty reliable in the time I have used it, they have a site which details the disqus status http://status.disqus.com/

I know there were some issues when they rolled out some upgrades last month..

Disqus does offer an xml export but it looks like it is more intended for users that want to migrate their comments to another system; as there is no automated way to refresh it (must request file through the moderation panel)

I've never had a chance to try intense debate but I remember reading they had a feature to export comments to wordpress; but this was intended for comments being indexed by search engines, which is something I would rather avoid.

Maybe ajax could be used to initiate the disqus code after the page has loaded? Just a guess but was it the recent comment block giving you issues?
