Post subject: Validated CSS for Ravennuke
Reply with quote

Hi Guys,I think something is wrong with css validation.

I tried to validate this site for CSS and lots of error. I validated the new installation of Ravennuke 2.50 and gives some errors too.

Code:
http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http%3A%2F%2Ftrickedoutnews.com&profile=css3&usermedium=all&warning=1&vextwarning=&lang=en

Any suggestion to fix this?

Nothing is wrong with my site. Those are browser specific CSS3 stylings that are not acknoledged by W3C. The border-radius is the standard, but not all browsers use it. Some things are done to support older browsers.

Yes here is all fine!

In the forum is an empty span on the place of "Watch this topic for replies", if i not logged in. But this the one and only warning, what i get on this page.

You can try a cool addon for firefox to validate your page:

Yes I have this plugin installed on my Firefox and it is validated but I guess these errors are from another level of CSS3

Like I said, W3C does not consider browser specific css as valid. The correct way to do rounded corners is to use border-radius, but older versions of Firefox, Opera and Safari only work with the webkit or moz prefixed css styling. Some of the other things like same colors for color and background-color are specific to the nukeNav menu so it has the same dropdown color. Validation is important, but you also have to understand when and why "breaking" it maybe a prefered method. XHTML/HTML5 validation is more standard through browsers, except for Internet Explorer which never cared about valid code until IE9. It is very important to use valid code so you have the same result across all platforms, sometimes you have to add extra code to support users that still use old browsers. Sometimes that code may cause a css validation issue but should not cause a XHTML/HTML5 issue.
