I just wanted to let everyone know that I plan on releasing a phpBB3 module for RavenNuke within the next few months. I have a bunch of things to finish up before it will be completed, but it will happen. If you are using the current bridge, you will be able to upgrade without any issues as it will be using the same basic bridge concept. I plan on having theme integration and user integration for sure, groups integration will be a possibility if it can be done without too many modifications on the RN side.

What is the status of this project? Can you share more information of this?

So far, I have the forum working within the RavenNuke modules system. I have redone the shared theme system several times as it is a PITA to use the phpBB3 theme cache system within the RN theme system. As of now, only the RN site header and footer will work with the phpBB3 forum. Side blocks do not work consistently with it, it really depends on the theme being used. I am looking at having a beta release within 2 months. That really depends on a lot of things though. My wife had a heart attack a few months ago and that has kept me from devoting much time to coding while she recovers.

bobby,

I think header and footer only are really good. I know some might not like losing say a navigation column, but with forums, I have just found that the one needs the extra screen real estate, especially on technical forums where/when code is posted and/or screen shots.

I am really excited about this project, especially coming from you as I know it will be rock solid. But, do take care of your bride (and yourself!).

Best regards always,

I have most of the integration issues worked out. The blocks not working issue was because phpBB3 and RN both used the same $db variable for their abstraction layer. I changed the phpBB3 to $bbdb and that has resolved the conflicts. I also had to change several other shared variables in phpBB3. My theme on this site has some css that is causing display changes in the phpBB3 style that other themes do not. I also wrapped the phpBB3 in a div with its own id so the css will not influence the sites theme. Once I get a few more styles for the module, I will release an alpha version for testing. I also have to decide what is going to be the best way to set the styles css in the head of RN. That is what I am working on now.
