Bobby!
Thank you much for this post. You might ask why I say this.
It is too soon to approach the appropriate developers of PHP open-source software I use.
I started using open source software in year 2010. Wordpress were my first. Under the terms of the
GNU General Public License as published by the
Free Software Foundation for
Wordpress, I did not qualify to use Wordpress for my purposes. Trust me. I was very sad. I was determined not to brake any
copyright laws. I eventually uninstalled Wordpress.
I searched the internet for an open source software with a
GNU General Public License that met my criteria.
I found phpNuke. Later, I upgraded to RavenNuke.
Part of the
RavenNuke 2.50.00 GPL License reads:
While the software contained in this distro is generally and mostly GPL (unless specified otherwise, such as the RavenStaller(tm)), there is also a Moral, Ethical, and Professional responsibility implicitly present in all the code. Please respect all of the different author's wishes, as much as is possible, as you encounter them.
Also, the GPL requires that you keep all copyrights, link-backs, etc. in the footers. Regardless of where/how you obtain a theme, you are required to leave the FOOTER in tact. You are not allowed to remove the RavenNuke(tm) copyrights and link back anchor tags.
For full text of the GPL Version 2 license, see it on-line here:
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.txt
Raven Web Services(tm) LLC
2012-01-10
If I do not respect the
copyright laws of any software, then I am not worthy of using them, especially if they are free. Such as open source software.
RavenNuke, phpBB and NukeC mean the world to me. In return, I respect all
copyright laws.
What would I do without the upgrades and support that are provided?
How much would the upgrades and support that are provided cost?
Think! Think! Think!
