I am working on a different slider approach - a module that integrates with news (most likely, specifically for TON), with the ability to also do other content. The goal is provide flexible (read: admin configurable) slider functionality that can be used as a home page module without requiring changes to themes, etc.

First, I compared jQuery slider plugins. I'm liking one of them, but haven't completely decided yet. Certainly would appreciate people's feedback.

Found another one today, jSliderNews. It has great demos, efficient code, and MIT/GPL license, but doesn't have many of the built-in features of carouFredSel. The demos highlight the power of CSS in creating sliders, but that applies to most sliders.

Not sure why I couldn't post the url (add the http):

This Autoscroller doesn't use the marquee tag, works in all modern Browser (Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Internet Explorer) and it is full w3c compatible.

Nice. I'm looking more for content sliding than a marquee replacement, but Autoscroller is a great scoller / ticker.
